I left Phoenix at 2:30 a.m. on Thursday morning to go to LA to see Kate Jackson at UCLA. She was supposed to be there for a screening of the
movie "Making Love" and a Q&A session afterwards. Due to scheduling conflicts she had to cancel the event. The reason I am telling this story on
my Bruce page is that because I was in LA for this event I actually met up with another friend and by chance found out that Bruce would be at the
"End of Trails" Western Festival in Norco. Norco is actually on my way back to Phoenix – well…. It’s approximately 30 minutes out of my way back
– and so I decided to stop by and say hello to Bruce.
I got there around 2:30 p.m. and went to the Celebrity tent. Rusty Richards was there as well, whom I had met in Scottsdale four weeks ago and I
chatted with him for quite a while. Bruce’s pictures were on the table next to Rusty, so I knew he was there – just not available right now. When he
came back he said hello to me and we chatted for a couple of minutes. He started packing up his photos then and got ready for a private shooting
event, where the celebrities got to shoot real guns (that’s what he told me).
While he was outside sitting on the little carts that would take him and the others to his event, I walked by, laughed and told him to not shoot himself
– he winked at me and shook his head. All of a sudden it started to rain and I decided that I should better get on my way back to Phoenix.
It was a very short visit to the End of Trails Festival, but I was excited just to say hello to him, since I had not expected to see him at all that
weekend. So with lot’s of twists and turns in my schedule this trip ended up really exciting – and instead of Kate, I got to see the other half of
SMK…… and I am not complaining!
